Allergic diseases are commonly seen in clinics. It is getting more and more popular for patients, esp. children, to choose acupuncture and moxibustion for treatment. Acupuncture plays an increasingly important role as an evidence-based therapy for allergy relief. Allergic diseases were first mentioned by Cao Yuan Fang (605-616 A.D.), e.g. oil painting allergy. Nowadays, acupuncture and moxibustion are widely used to treat and control most allergic conditions e.g. allergic rhinitis, dermatitis, asthma, etc. The hypersensitivity reactions of allergic disease are equal to the Yang pattern in TCM. According to the definition of Feng-Wind, it is quite seasonal to link the hypersensitivity to wind. The external excessive wind can explain acute onset of allergies while the internal deficient wind can explain the remission stage. Since allergies are primarily seen in the lunge system, including the nose, skin, and branchiae, large intestine etc. Interestingly, those wind symptoms of the lung system fits the relationship that wood rebels or counter-overcomes metal. Therefore, the treatment strategy should foucus on how to balance the wood and metal. In Master Tung’s Acupuncture (MTA), there are some good points, which strengthen the lung metal and drain the liver wood simultaneously.
