Yangwei i.e. Yang-linking channel, treats chill/aversion. Yinwei i.e. Yin-linking channel, treats all Yin disorders in the chest e.g. chest pain, stomachache, and abdominal pain. Traditionally, the Yangwei channel starts under the lateral malleolus (BL63), runs upward along the gallbladder channel, and meets the Du channel on the neck. It opens into Waiguan-SJ5; the Yinwei channel starts from KI-9 and runs upward through the kidney, liver, and liver and enters the chest. It could be very interesting to think about why all the Wei-linking and Qiao-heels start from the feets. None of them go to the hands. After years of study, it is very difficult to find an explanation for it. Actually, the indications of Yangwei and Yinwei are much more closely related to their opening points i.e. SJ5 and PC6. The names of these two i.e. External Gate (SJ5) and Internal Gate (PC6) can perfectly summarise these two channels. Additionally, Yangwei is also closely related to Shaoyang incl. Sanjiao and gallbladder, and Yinwei to Jueyin incl. the Pericardium and Liver. After years of study, I found out it’s totally reasonable to put Yangwei and Yinwei on the arms. Zhen (☳) refers to thunder and uprising Yang. Zhen is the first movement in the early spring, which wakes up lives in nature and shows strong ascending momentum. Therefore, Zhen belongs to the Yang wood and is related to Shaoyang i.e. the minister fire. Actually, the minister-fire of Shaoyang is also called dragon and thunder fire in TCM and refers to pathologically rebellious heat from the lower Jiao. Xun (☴) refers to wind and mildly moving Qi. Compared with Zhen, which is attributed to Yang wood, Xun is Yin wood and related to Jueyin. Thus a paired relationship i.e. Zhen-Shaoyang-Yangwei and Xun-Jueyin-Yinwei are established.

In this intensive course, the following topics will be discussed Detailed explanation of Yangwei and Yinwei, historical classics and new understanding Relationship of Yinwei and Yangwei to Shaoyang/Jueyin and Zhen/Xun trigrams Diagnosing Yangwei and Yinwei disorders Acupuncture and herbal medicine e.g. Xiao Chai Hu Tang treatment for Yangwei diseases Acupuncture and herbal medicine e.g. Si Ni San treatment for Yinwei diseases.
